THE STORY OF THE DESIGN.
THE STORY OF THE DESIGN.
The "Hello!" series continues.
This time, we travel to the good old New York—the City of Dreams.
This one differs from the others as I haven't used a real person's portrait but the world-famous Statue of Liberty. Shout out for the excellent original Photo of Brandon Mowinkel on Unsplash.
The idea for this project originated from the chance to get official American (New York Times) newspapers from Gawtick International Airport.
While browsing Unsplash, I discovered a photo that became the focal point of my work. The film The Brutalist's poster also inspired me, featuring the stunning Statue of Liberty element.
I aimed to create the same vibes as the previous ones from the series. I first started by making some doodles with a pencil, and after that, they got the final layer with a White Acrylic Marker Pen. Also, I wrote a lot of AI-generated, cool New York-related words and elements.
After dynamically tearing the black paper apart (also leaving much space for the newspapers), I randomly placed the first layer of small New York Times newspaper body texts. After that, I used some Easter eggs, such as the Eagle, USA Flag, and traditional-looking NEW YORK TIMES fonts.
I also created many textures with nail polish, glue, and tape on the statue photo and the newspaper pieces to make them look old and grunge.
After I scanned the design back at 600 dpi, I restored the colours in Adobe Photoshop (@photoshop) and added all of the digital graffiti texts and elements in Figma (@figma). Then, I got the design back in Photoshop and added a subtle Monochrome noise effect.
