This mixed-media poster confronts the harsh realities of racism and the urgent need for empathy, acceptance, and education. The design is built upon a backdrop of real newspaper clippings from The Daily Telegraph, documenting the wave of anti-immigration demonstrations and riots that swept across the UK between 30 July and 7 August 2024. These events, marked by violence against mosques and asylum seekers, serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and understanding.

Overlaying these clippings is a large, analog-printed letter “R,” symbolizing the theme of Racism. The letter’s center is meticulously cut out, revealing the face of an African individual beneath—specifically, a single, sorrowful eye. This striking focal point captures the pain and humanity of those who face racism daily, making the viewer confront the emotional weight of prejudice.

As an immigrant in the UK and someone who has personally experienced racism, this poster reflects both personal pain and a broader call for change. It also pays tribute to friendships and connections that transcend race and religion, emphasizing the need for learning, empathy, and acceptance of each other's differences.

This poster is not just art; it’s a statement—a visual plea for unity in a world divided by ignorance and fear.
